About 6 weeks ago I commenced writing 3 'morning pages' and taking time out for dates with myself as written about in the book 'The Artists Way' and also as part of a program I am doing with Jo Martin. It is a fantastic habit and really connects me back to myself and my greater purpose and plan. Love it! Things begin to happen once you connect that way.

Nasty things happen to everyone, every day. My winning habit is getting over setbacks quickly. When disaster strikes, I ask myself "Can I do anything to change this?" If I can, then I do it, as quickly as possible. If I can't do anything, then I move on and do whatever is my next priority. Wallowing in misery doesn't help anyone.

It's Sunday morning and, instead of lying in, I have just been for a walk along the beach. I had no idea that there was 'life' before 10am on Sunday yet there were so many people out there enjoying themselves;walking, swimming, cycling. Already I feel fantastic and ready to face the day. My lying in on Sunday days are over! I'll keep you posted.

At a conference recently, I met Dandy - the most gracious, poised and elegant woman that I have had the pleasure to meet. During the three days of the conference, she sat at a table on a dais at the front of the room - no escaping the eyes of the members up there. Not once did she slump, look bored or uncomfortable and even when tiredness took over her, she still maintained her perfect posture as she 'rested her eyes'.

Now, whenever I catch myself slumping, I remind myself of how she seemingly naturally held herself and I try a little harder. I will never look as elegant as she does because I am short and she is tall and slim. However, I feel that by maintaining a better posture, I can look taller and slimmer than I really am... perhaps it will be in mind, yet that is important too.

Oh yes and my back will ache less too.

I have started to take time out to say thank you and really mean it. The other day, I thanked a waitress serving a group of us at a conference and she grew a foot taller. I've learned it's often the simple things that we don't do, yet should, which can make great things happen. Often we get lost in the big ideas and forget the power of simple, daily habits.

I cannot believe the difference it makes to sit down at the beginning of the day and prioritise my work load; what a great habit.
And now I know that if I have a crap day, then I just write it off and move onto the next one. No point dwelling in the past.

Took your suggestion and have turned my tractor and our car into a 'university'; what a great habit... no more excuses that I have no time to read. Those cd's are fantastic.

For several days now, I have listened a lot more than I have spoken to truly understand where people are coming from. I used to think that speaking all the time made me sound smart. Now I have discovered that if I say less yet with more conviction, people no longer see me as a blond; they see me as an intelligent woman.
